Tanzania ICS Study Reports

Facilitated by SNV, the ICS Task force of Tanzania was created in 2011 and dissolved in the year 2015, with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM) as the Chair and the Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) elected as the secretariat. The ICS Task force was initiated with the aim to increase coordination in the Improved Cook Stove (ICS) sector, for stakeholders to better understand and develop the sector through multi-stakeholder processes, while doing the necessary studies to come to a joint way forward for further ICS market development in the country. 360 households to replace kerosene lanterns in Malinyi

Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) with financial support from URBIS Foundation is implementing solar lantern revolving fund in Malinyi, Tanzania. The revolving fund is managed through 12 Village Cooperative Banks (VICOBA). By the end of June,2017 the project will be concluded.

VICOBA have got incentive as they retain money that is used now in the revolving fund and use for other programs.

Renewable Energy Stakeholders Workshop-Njombe

Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) through the support of bfz and CEFA conducted the networking event of renewable energy stakeholders in Njombe, Tanzania. The event attracted renewable energy actors from the regions of Iringa, Njombe, Ruvuma and Mbeya. More than 65 stakeholders participated to the event that was held on 18th September, 2016.

The event aimed at sensitizing renewable energy actors in the southern Tanzania on the importance of being in the sector network, and exchange of the information on the development of renewable energy in the southern region.

Sensitization on the networking aimed at encouraging stakeholders becoming members of TAREA that a branch can be found for the southern zone.

CEFA shared the success of mini hydro projects in the region. Read details

27 dispensaries in Masasi to get solar electricity

<p>The German District of Enzkreis and Masasi District of Tanzania has been working together in the areas of education, environment, sustainable energy and health in order to improve the livelihood of people of Masasi District in Tanzania. </p> <p>In the first phase of the common projects, Masasi and Enzkreis Districts installed 4.8kW solar photovoltaic system at Mkomaindo District Hospital to provide backup power to the Neonatal ward and Intensive Care Unit to power life saving machines. It further installed biogas digesters and their respective ovens at Migongo Mission, Lupaso Mission, Folks Developme...</p>
