TAREA and URBIS Foundation Promote Solar Water Pumping
TAREA and the German Partner URBIS Foundation are piloting the use of solar photovoltaic technology to supply water at the secondary school in a sustainable manner.
The solar water pumping system with the capacity of delivering 20m3 per day will be installed at Preiswerk Girls Secondary School in Ifakara. The solar pumping system will replace the diesel-powered water pump.
The action outcomes will be increased availability of water for domestic use and introduced vegetable growing. The expected impacts of the project will be students living a healthy life, reduced financial expenditure on energy, and reduced greenhouse emissions.
