In order to achieve its goals TAREA is collaborating with various partners from different countries.

  • ACCESS Coalition

    To advocate for people living in poverty to have access to safe, reliable and affordable energy, and for environmentally sustainable and efficient energy systems globally.

    The ACCESS coalition consists of a range of civil society organisations (CSOs), both international and national. It aims to strengthen the visibility and presence of CSOs working to deliver universal energy access, particularly within Sustainable Energy for All (SEforAll), Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) implementation and other global energy initiatives. It advocates at national and regional levels for transparent and inclusive multi-stakeholder participation at all stages of energy processes. It works with donors and investors to build their understanding of the energy needs of poor groups. It supports capacity building of civil society actors and share best practice across its networks.

  • Association of Association Executives

    The Association of Association Executives supports employees & officers of membership organisations in raising their value and that of their services, products and events to members and their community. 

    The AAE community is managed and owned by The Networking Organisation Ltd, with its head office in the United Kingdom, and personnel also in the Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, Kenya and India. The AAE is guided by members of its Advisory Panels, and decisions made by the organisation led by the Executive Director.

  • Associazione Microfinanza e Sviluppo Onlus

    Associazione Microfinanza e Sviluppo Onlus (AMS) is an Italian NGO working to promote micro finance.  AMS is cooperating with the Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) in enabling financing of renewable energy.



     

  • Climate Technology Centre and Network


    Climate Technology Centre & Network

    TAREA is a member of the Climate Technologies Centre and Networks (CTCN) which is the operational arm of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism, hosted by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The Centre promotes the accelerated transfer of environmentally sound technologies for low-carbon and climate-resilient development at the request of developing countries. We provide technology solutions, capacity building and advice on policy, legal and regulatory frameworks tailored to the needs of individual countries.

  • Enzkreis


    The Enzkreis is with its 28 cities and municipalities in the region Region Nordschwarzwald in the heart of Baden-Württemberg, between the conurbations of Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. It includes the independent city of Pforzheim.

    Enzkries is the partner of Masasi District Council and Masasi Town Council. The partnership works to improve life of people within Masasi District. Projects that are implemented are in the area of education, training and renewable energy.

    TAREA is the third partner in the cooperation of Enzkreis and Masasi. TAREA is involved in the area of renewable energy.

  • German Embassy in Tanzania

    Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) has partnered with the German Embassy in Dar es Salaam supported by the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs to implement the project “Installation of a photovoltaic solar system at the Matekwe Secondary School in Nachingwea, Lindi Region”. The cooperation started on 16.11.2023.

  • German-Tanzanian Partnership (DTP)


    DTP e.V.

    TAREA has a partnership with Deutsch-Tansanische Partnerschaft e.V (DTP).  DTP is supporting TAREA yearly to enable a young educated Tanzanian to undergo a 12-month internship at TAREA's Head Office. Youth has an opportunity to practice renewable energy and energy efficiency financing.

  • GIZ E4D Program

    The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is a service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work. They are dedicated to shaping a future worth living around the world. They have over 50 years of experience in a wide variety of areas, including economic development and employment promotion, energy and the environment, and peace and security. The diverse expertise of their federal enterprise is in demand around the globe – from the German Government, European Union institutions, the United Nations, the private sector, and governments of other countries. They work with businesses, civil society actors and research institutions, fostering successful interaction between development policy and other policy fields and areas of activity. Their main commissioning party is the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

    TAREA has partnered with GIZ through its program of GIZ E4D Employment and Skills for Development in Africa to implement the project Enabling Youth Employment in Solar Energy in Tanzania.   The project is implemented within the framework of a project financed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) as commissioned by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and with funding provided by the European Union. 

  • GOGLA

    The Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA) and the Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) have partnered to implement Institutional Support financed by USAID and Shell Foundation’s Market Institutions’ Facility. GOGLA aims to build the institutional capacity of TAREA across the decentralized renewable energy (DRE) sector. The current agreement will end in June 2024.

  • Herrnhuter Missionshilfe e.V

    Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) has partnered with Herrnhuter Missionshilfe e.V, a German NGO to develop solar training programs for the Moravian Church Vocational Training Centre (VTC) in the Southern Highland Tanzania. The benefiting centres are Moravian VTCs of Mbeya, Kakozi, Ileje, Rungwe, Kyela, Songea, and Namtumbo. The partnership is financially contributed by the URBIS Foundation of Germany.

  • INFORSE


    TAREA is a member of INFORSE.

    INFORSE is a worldwide network consisting of 140 non-governmental organizations working in about 60 countries to promote sustainable energy and social development.

    The Network was established in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 to secure follow-up on the political decisions at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED).

    INFORSE is actively engaged in international awareness rising. INFORSE follows and influences sustainable energy issues in international negotiations and has been accredited to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 1998, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since 2002.

    As an observer, INFORSE has been involved in participating in UN conferences. INFORSE also has organized side events and exhibitions at many of these conferences.

  • International Solar Energy Society

    TAREA is a member of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES), the global voice for renewable energy as a Silver Institution Member.

  • LIFE Academy

    LIFE Academy is a global actor in capacity building and knowledge exchange for sustainable development. It has a network of members in more than 80 countries and more than 20 years’ experience. With sustainable development as a mission and business idea, it trains and support decision makers in companies, public agencies and organizations all over the world. It has performed a great number of ITP programs (International Training Programs sponsored by Sida) in different areas. 

    In the period of 2019-2022, LIFE Academy implements the training on Capacity Development Program-Renewable Energy to which TAREA participates.

  • National Gender and Sustainable energy network

    NGSEN

    ​TAREA is the member of National Gender and Sustainable energy network (NGSEN) is a network advocating for women empowerment and increased access to modern energy technologies and services in Tanzania. 

  • Norwegian African Business Association (NABA)

    The Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA) seeks to promote business opportunities on the African continent, adding value to companies doing business in African markets. 

    TAREA and NABA have partnered to promote renewable energy collaboration between Norway and Tanzania through:

    (1) Exchange of information related to renewable energy projects and developments in Tanzania and Norway;

    (2) Providing each other with information about investment and cooperation opportunities in the renewable energy sector;

    (3) Exchanges of visits and research by delegations in both countries and by providing essential assistance to such delegations, especially in arranging appointments and business discussions for the relevant companies and organizations;

    (4) Organizing training, seminars/webinars on matters about investment, trade development and technology with a focus on Tanzania and the renewable energy sector; and

    (5) Provision of information about related companies and the introduction of legal and consulting services to each other.

  • PREVENT Waste Alliance

    PREVENT Waste Alliance was initiated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The PREVENT Waste Alliance was launched in May 2019. It serves as a platform for exchange and international cooperation. Organizations from the private sector, academia, civil society and public institutions jointly engage in a circular economy.

    TAREA joined the alliance in April 2022.

  • REEEP

    REEEP is an international multilateral partnership that works to accelerate market-based deployment of renewable energy and energy-efficient systems in developing countries.

    REEEP invests in clean energy markets in developing countries to reduce CO2 emissions and build prosperity. Based on a strategic portfolio of high-impact projects, REEEP works to generate energy access, improve lives and economic opportunities, build sustainable markets, and combat climate change.

    REEEP works with TAREA to promote renewable energy financing.

  • SchuPa Tansania e.V

    SchuPa Tanzania e.V

    Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) has partnered with SchuPa Tanzania e.V, a German NGO  to develop renewable energy technology infrastructures for Emmaberg Girls' High School in Makambako, Njombe, Tanzania. The school is owned by the Evangelical Lutheran Church-Tanzania, Southern Diocese.

    The partnership is on the installation of solar water heaters for showers (4,000 litres), solar photovoltaics for the dormitories, and solar photovoltaics for the water pump. 

    One of the sustainability strategies will be training teachers and students on servicing solar installations.

    It is International network of organizations and groups who commit themselves for a better world. 

  • Tanzania Association of Micro Finance Institutions (TAMFI)

    Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) has partnered with the Tanzania Association of Micro Finance Institutions (TAMFI) to promote productive use of renewable energy (PURE) through:


    • Raising awareness among microfinance institutions on renewable energy technologies, use and quality through the use of joint initiatives such as the e-newsletter, awards, user platform and participation in various awards and meetings that bring together renewable and financing stakeholders. Similarly, establishing web-based links from each network.
    • Undertake joint initiatives such as the capacity building of MFIs and RESCOs, partnership development, PUE-financing, risk management, product quality monitoring and after-sale systems and services
    • Undertake joint pilot testing of renewable energy service financing in agriculture, fishing and clean cooking.
    • Development of financial services for renewable energy and energy efficiency
    • Jointly implement the graduate program that aims to improve the quality of services in MFIs offering Renewable Energy Financing services, and
    • Organizing face-to-face events that bring renewable energy service providers, development partners, microfinance institutions, and regulators to dialogue on enabling renewable energy financing.

  • The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tanzania

    The Kingdom of the Netherlands through its Embassy in Tanzania is supporting activities that aim in adopting the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The first support to TAREA was the event of the National Renewable Energy Day 2019.

    The Kingdom of the Netherlands is supporting the advocacy activity of recognizing smallholder farmer solar irrigation pump to be one of the tools of realizing Irrigation Master Plan and recognized as an agricultural implement. The activity runs from March 2020 to July 2021.

  • URBIS Foundation


    Urbis Foundation

    Urbis Foundation is a German NGO that promotes the sustainability of natural resources and the mitigation of poverty.
    It has been supporting TAREA in the activities of advocacy, awareness-raising, and youth and women renewable energy capacity building.

  • Wind Empowerement

    TAREA is the member of WindEmpowerment (WE) which is an association for the development of locally manufactured small wind turbines for sustainable rural electrification. WE represents over 50 member organisations, consisting of wind turbine manufacturers, non-governmental organisations, universities, social enterprises, co-operatives, training centers, as well as individual participants across the world. It also serves as a knowledge sharing platform that links together these members and participants to share their experiences of what works and what doesn’t in the contexts in which they are working, technical advances and other resources so that small wind can become a more viable solution for rural electrification. 

  • World Resources Institute

    World Resources Institute (WRI) is a non-profit organization organized under the laws of Delaware, US.  WRI is a global organization that works with leaders in government, business and civil society to research, design, and carry out practical solutions that simultaneously improve people’s lives and ensure nature can thrive.

    WRI has partnered with TAREA  for co-development and use of the Energy Access Explorer (EAE) for providing market intelligence to the renewable energy stakeholders, identifying new potential markets for renewable energy products and services and engaging the Ministry of Energy in Tanzania around policy goals that are key to the effective functioning of Tanzania’s renewable energy markets. 

    A combined effort between WRI and TAREA, with each bringing its strengths, would ensure that renewable energy stakeholders in Tanzania are equipped with the geospatial data and analysis they need to make robust market decisions and support enabling environments for renewable energy markets in the country.
